The Secret Society of Souptown

The Secret Society of Souptown, an exciting adventure film for all audiences, will premiere in Finland on Friday 25.3.2016.

The Solar Films movie is a co-production with the Estonian company Nafta Films. The movie opened in Estonia in the summer of 2015, drawing an audience of 90 000 and is the third watched movie of all times in Estonia. The film is dubbed in Finnish and stars Sampo Sarkola.

The modern fantasy village of Souptown is the location of the adventure, which starts when a mysterious poison spreads around the place, turning the adults into kids. Mari, a courageous and streetwise girl and her friends start to search for an antidote to save the residents – but they only have 48 hours! Treasure hunt is familiar to them; they have a lot of practice from the games organized by Mari’s grandfather.

The Secret Society of Souptown in based on the popular children’s books The Orange Bicycle and The Silver Treasure Chest by Mika Keränen. The movie is directed by Margus Paju and the Finnish adaptation by Pekka Lehtosaari. The producers are Jesse Fryckman, Esko Rips and Diana Mikita.

SYNOPSIS

The Secret Society of Souptown is a story of Mari, a courageous and clever 10-year old. Her parent are so committed to their work that Mari spends most of her time with her professor-granddad. Mari and her three best friends found a secret society, to solve the treasure hunt riddles invented by the grandfather.

One day a mysterious poison spreads in the village, turning the adults into children. The Secret Society has to face an adventure beyond their wildest imagination and try to find an antidote for the poison – which is not easy! The trail to the antidote is full of obstacles. The Society has to solve riddles, escape their bullies and to hide from the menacing masked evil.

They have to deliver the antidote to the hospital in 48 hours. Will the kids find the antidote in time? Can they save the adults?
