Popular YouTube and social media stars Niko and Santtu and Weksi star in Cancel, which will premiere this autumn. The fast-paced, fictional comedy film also features a number of visitors in cameo roles.

The film is written by Pietari Vihula, also known as stand-up comedian, together with Niko, Santtu and Weksi. The film is directed by Tuukka Temonen and produced by Hanna Virolainen, Markus Selin and Jukka Helle.

"This is an interesting domestic social media movie and a big release for Solar Films this year! We want to shake things up and develop new content that appeals to different cinema audiences," comments producer Markus Selin.

The themes of the film are cancel culture today, the lifestyle of the stars and their value choices. In the film, Santtu is the victim of a phone theft, which sets off a colourful series of events. The phone contains extremely sensitive content that, if revealed, would lead to the boys being celled. At worst, it would destroy their huge popularity and careers, and water down an unprecedented sponsorship deal. The race to find the phone is on, with no shortage of twists and turns. The phone must be recovered at any cost. In the midst of a critical situation, the trio must also weigh up which is more important, friendship or popularity?

"The idea to make a film came from a childhood dream. We realized that dreams don't come true by themselves if we don't do anything about it. We approached Markus Selin by email and he was interested in the idea. After lengthy discussions and a development process, we found the perfect team for the film. Selin suggested Tuukka Temonen as director, and we were immediately inspired. We met Tuukka and we clicked immediately! We admire how warmly and open-mindedly he has welcomed us. We are super excited to finally release a movie project that we have been quietly working on for over three years – and we haven't had a chance to sneak a peep about it to anyone," comment Niko and Santtu and Weksi.

Filming of the movie will start in March. The film rights has been acquired by MTV.

NikojaSanttu is a YouTube channel founded by Niko Meuronen and Santeri Hänninen in 2015, with over 400 000 subscribers. It is one of the first and most popular entertainment YouTube channels in Finland and has become known not only for its vlogs but also for its challenges and tricks. Niko and Santtu have organized numerous YouTube All Stars hockey and football matches, most of which have sold out. In addition, the duo have published two books, made several concert hall and YouTube tours, founded two Meemitalos and won two Tubecon awards, in 2019 in the Audience Favorite category and in 2022 in the Brand Collaboration of the Year category.

Weksi, aka Henry Weckström, became known as a TikTok content producer with over 400 000 followers. Weksi was the first to reach that number of followers on TikTok with a Finnish audience. Specializing in sketch videos, Weksi later moved on to produce content for YouTube, where his channel has almost 100 000 subscribers. Weksi is still the most followed TikTok professional in Finland and was awarded TikTok Influencer of the Year at Tubecon 2022.
