Reunion
A trip of all time!
Reunion is based on the Danish film Klassefesten (2011) and was shot in Helsinki, Turku and Naantali in July and August 2014.
Synopsis
Reunion is the story of three men who travel back to their hometown to attend their high school reunion. They embark on a brave journey to take a breath, far away from their problems, family and relationships. The childhood friends' goal is a weekend of freedom and fun. But. Everything that used to be easy is now something else when you reach middle age.
Niklas, a journalist, is a man who is kind of afraid to live. The world around him hasn't felt like his own for years. It has driven past him. Or more accurately, over him. Is the future life nothing but giving up?
Singer Tuomas, on the other hand, has achieved everything he set out to do in his life. Therefore, he believes in his own abilities more than luck. The whole world seems to be eating out of his hand.
There are two times for Antti the wage slave: before and after divorce. He didn't think he could achieve anything higher than his love of high school Hanne, so after the divorce there was nothing left but emptiness. But even emptiness can be a powerful catalyst, as Antti soon discovers. All that's left is reunion.

Director's statement
There are journeys and then there are trips. Reunion was definitely more of the latter in its uniqueness, although I had already come a long way with the script before I met the film's star trio: Aku, Sami and Jaajo. They breathed life into our film, giving it each their own talents, lessons in comedy – and above all, themselves. Every day, from rehearsals to the shoot itself, I witnessed this again and again. My crew and I tried our best to capture this. At the same time, we also witnessed the transformation of a colleague into a friend. I believe that this can be seen and felt in the final result.
