On Thin Ice tells the fictional survival story of hockey player Marko Jantunen. The film begins in Lahti in 2015, at a moment when Jarna, a homeless man, is in the deepest trouble of his life. Creditors come to collect drug money and Jarna is given 24 hours to pay his debts, starting a frantic, drug filled battle against time. Manic speed, fear of stalking killers, paranoia and self-loathing over old wrongs eventually lead to a road accident. Jarna can no longer escape, his pace slows down and he is on the verge of giving up.
