Beautiful Sassy Happy , a drama film about Kaija Koo's life and career, will hit the screens on Wednesday 18.2.2026.The first teaser of the film will be released to celebrate Kaija's birthday.

"It was a thrill to see the first clip of Kaunis rietas onnellinen. Oona Airola is brilliant in the role. And I was startled when Jari Virman came on screen as Markku: I was instantly transported back decades in my memories," Kaija Koo said.
The film tells the story of singer Kaija Kokkola, who, after leaving the band and going solo, became one of the most popular artists in the world of pop and power ballads, an interpreter of the soul and Finnishness of the whole nation, Kaija Koo. Kaunis rietas onnellinen follows Kaija's life and career, her music-making and the boom period sparked by the hit Kuka keksi rakkauden, when albums sell gold, concerts are sold out and Kaija becomes a great Finnish pop icon. But not everything went like a fairy tale. At the same time, the artist wrestled with a number of challenges. Through challenges and adversity, Kaija Koo eventually grew into a confident, brave and determined woman and artist, who achieved her wildest dreams and finally found freedom in her personal and professional life. Kaunis rietas onnellinen is a story of survival that was never meant to happen.
"This film offers a new way of telling my life story, as it also includes the views of the writer, director, producer and dramaturg. I've always been fascinated by cinema and I'm a film buff, so to speak. It's important that this story is told, because it can give strength to others who are struggling to reach their limits on their journey towards the light", Kaija Koo continues.
The film is produced by Solar Films' Rimbo Salomaa, Anna Nuru, Markus Selin and Jukka Helle. The film is distributed by Nordisk Film.
