STORMSKERRY MAJA TO THEATRES IN GERMANY, AUSTRIA AND SWITZERLAND

The film has also been theatrically released in Sweden, Norway and France.

Stormskerry Maja, written and directed by Tiina Lymi, will be released in cinemas in Germany, Switzerland and Austria in the first week of April. The film has also been theatrically released in Sweden, Norway and France.

"It's great that German-speaking countries are also coming forward to screen the film," says producer Markus Selin.

Stormskerry Maja has received more than 471 000 admissions in Finnish cinemas as of Monday 24.3.2025, and was by far the highest-grossing film on Finnish screens in 2024. It is also the highest-grossing domestic film in cinemas in the current decade. The film, produced by Solar Films, premiered on 19 January 2024 and is distributed by Nordisk Film.

The film received a total of six Jussi prizes at last weekend's Jussi Awards, as well as the Audience Favorite Award, which is voted for by the public. The Jussis were awarded in the following categories:

Film of the Year – Jukka Helle, Hanna Virolainen and Markus Selin / Solar Films
Director of the Year – Tiina Lymi
Lead Actress of the Year – Amanda Jansson
Music of the Year – Lauri Porra
Editor of the Year – Joona Louhivuori
Production Design of the Year – Otso Linnalaakso

In addition, cinematographer Rauno Ronkainen was awarded the Cinematographer of the Year Award at the Finnish Society of Cinematographers' FSC Awards ceremony on 15 March 2025 for his work on Stormskerry Maja. The citation says: "Rauno Ronkainen illustrates a story of will, strength and love. A great film that seeks beauty in the barren archipelago and the emotions that burn there".
