Porra has played in numerous bands of different genres, the best known of which is the metal band Stratovarius. Other bands have included the Ben Granfelt Band, Emma Salokoski Trio, among others, Kotipelto, Sinergy and Warmen. He has also played on albums such as Juice Leskinen(1950-2006) and Mikko Alatalo's Senator and Bohemian, released in 2004. Porra released his first solo album in 2005.

The first video version of Timo Kotipello's song Sleep Well was deemed unsuitable for children under 12. The film clips shown in the video contained flashes of weapons, violence and blood. A second video of the song was then made, in which the questionable parts were changed to be more suitable for children.You can watch the shelved video at the link below.
