The Solar Films production The Grumpp has passed the exceptional landmark of 500 000 spectators. The exact figure is 500 171 viewers in theatrical release. The Grump, directed by Dome Karukoski, is the second Solar Films production this year to pass that mark.
The Midwife, directed by Antti J. Jokinen, has also been a major success. It is the most watched movie in Finland this week and has passed the 60 000 mark. The Midwife premiered 4.9.2015.
The Grump has been in theatrical release continuously now for 53 weeks. The premiere was 5.9.2014. The Grump is the third watched movie in Finland since 1990.
The pole position of the years 1990-2015 is held by Bad Boys, with 614 097 spectators. Number two is Reunion, with 504 883 viewers. Number four position belongs to Matti (Hell Is For Heroes), with an audience of 463 186. All four top movies have been produced by Solar Films.
