The world premiere of Imaginaerum by Nightwish – movie and a concert in the same event
The much anticipated movie, Imaginaerum by Nightwish, will get a jump start on Saturday, 10th of November at Hartwall Arena in Helsinki. The audience gets to enjoy a Nightwish concert and the world premiere of the movie during the same evening.
A globally anticipated movie, Imaginaerum by Nightwish, is a musical fantasy in the spirit of David Lynch, Neil Gaiman and Cirque du Soleil. The movie is an innovative combition of music and narrative; a mystical tale of the power of imagination and what is important in life, after all. The movie was shot and made in Canada. It is directed by Stobe Harju and produced by Solar Films. All the members of the band perform in the movie.
The roots go back five years
The story is based on the wild vision of Tuomas Holopainen, the central creative powerhouse of Nightwish. It was conceived in the aftermath of the album Passion Play in 2007. “I was thinking about ways how to take the ambitious and multi-layered performances of the band to the next level. That created a wish to tell a story, written with love and care.”
“Innovative, mystical, timeless…”
Finishing the movie has been a challenging journey, offering unforgettable experiences, according to Holopainen. It has taken all the bandmembers years of dedication, almost of unhuman proportions. “My deepest gratitude to each and everyone, already now” says Holopainen. “We have created something innovative, mystical and timeless together.”
A Nightwish concert before the movie
Imaginaerum will premiere at the Hartwall Arena on the 10th of November. Before the world premiere of the movie the band will perform, last time on the Finnish soil this year. On the previous day, November 9th, the official soundtrack album of the movie will be released: Imaginaerum by Nightwish – The Score. The album features 13 new songs, new and innovative adaptations of the songs in the movie by Petri Alanko. The domestic release of the motion picture starts on the 23rd of November.
The most successful Finnish rock band of all times
Nighwish has sold over 7 million albums globally and has been awarded over 60 gold and platinum discs, which makes Nightwish the most successful Finnish rock band of all times.
