MAN AND A BABY BREAKS THE 200 000 SPECTATOR LANDMARK

By last night, the official box office number was 200 062.

Man and a Baby, the Finnish hit movie directed by Marja Pyykkö, has crossed the 200 000 spectator milestone. By last night, the official box office number was 200 062. It is a remarkable figure; only four domestic movies of last year reached that mark. The film premiered on October 6th 2017.

The director Marja Pyykkö is overjoyed by the spectacular success. “Feature film is an art form that is made for big audiences. It is fantastic that the film has attracted so many people who have taken the trouble to see the movie”, says Pyykkö, referring to the recent dispute between Finnkino and the production company.

The leading actor of the film, Petteri Summanen was recently nominated for the Finnish Film Award (Jussi Award) for his role. “The journey of our movie can be compared to a rollercoaster ride. We’ve been through all the phases, through different emotions. It was a dream movie, a dream role and the magnificent box office numbers are more than justified”, rejoices Summanen.

Man and a Baby is produced by Solar Films / Jukka Helle and Markus Selin and it is distributed by Nordisk Film. The screenplay is written by Marja Pyykkö and the author Marko Leino, based on the best-selling novel of the same title by Eve Hietamies.

The prize-giving ceremony was attended by director Marja Pyykkö, producer Markus Selin and actor Petteri Summanen. The film was screened with English subtitles, with its English name.
