The principal photography of Man and a Baby, based on the novel by Eve Hietamies, commences this month

Solar Films starts the principal photography of the movie Man and a Baby, based on the novel by Eve Hietamies. The film features an ensemble cast of famed actors and will be directed by Marja Pyykkö. The screenplay is written by Marko Leino, an author and a screenwriter, together with Marja Pyykkö. The main role is played by Petteri Summanen.

The movie will be shot in the greater Helsinki area in August-September 2016 and in January 2017. The premiere will be in the fall of 2017.

Markus Selin, the producer of the movie says: “It’s fantastic to make a comedy about a topic that was a major success as a novel, also in the sequels. The icing on the cake is Petteri Summanen in the leading role”.

The movie has an ensemble cast of front-row actors. The main roles will feature Petteri Summanen and Marja Salo and the supporting cast will include Ria Kataja, Marjaana Maijala, Niko Saarela, Pihla Viitala, Juha Muje, Ulla Tapaninen, Santeri Helinheimo Mäntylä, Hannele Lauri, Kimmo Taavila, Anna-Maija Tuokko, Lauri Tilkanen, Minttu Mustakallio, Leea Klemola and Oona Kamu.

SYNOPSIS
A comedy about a man who is left alone with a baby. “Goodbye sex, nights in a bar and journalistic gigs. Welcome puke towels, artificial mother’s milk and Teletubbies. But where in hell can a man from the Stone Age find the maternal genes?” The life of Antti Pasanen, a journalist, is in order. His wife is just about to give birth. Until, in front of the Maternity Hospital, everything changes. With a sniveling bundle in his arms, Antti sees the taillights of a taxi fading away, with his wife Pia in the backseat and their future as a core family in jeopardy. The life in terms of the baby – aka Paavo Pasanen – begins and little does Antti know what it demands from him…
