The enormously popular cult cartoon “Fingerpori” is transferred to a movie format. The live action feature film will be directed by Mikko Kouki, so far better known as an actor and a renowned theater director.

The story is based on a cartoon series Fingerpori and its characters, created by Pertti Jarla. The screenplay is by Petja Lähde and Mikko Kouki.

The movie is produced by Solar Films / Nina Laurio, who is known as the producer of Off the map and Heavysaurs – The Movie, just to mention a few. The executive producers are Markus Selin and Jukka Helle. The movie is distributed by Nordisk Film and the principal photography will take place in Turku between May 5th and June 21st, 2018. The premiere is in the fall of 2019.

WFFC, The West Finland Film Commssion, is overjoyed by the production. “The cinema city of Turku welcomes our old friend Solar Films again, this time with the production of Fingerpori. We are particularly happy that the debut direction of Mikko Kouki, a native of our town and the artistic director of the Turku City Theatre, will be shot here in Turku”, says Teija Raninen, the film commissioner of WFFC.

The search for the extras has started. The production is looking for people of all ages and looks, with personality – who will fit into the universe of Fingerpori. The work of the extras will be done mainly in the Turku area.

Fingerpori is one of the most popular cartoons in Finland. It is currently published by 44 different medias, of which 11 are online publications. Via print media the cartoon can be viewed by 2,14 million Finns, excluding Sundays.
