Ghost House Underground rises with Lordi’s horror movie Dark Floors
Third Nordisk Film Acquired for Ghost House Underground’s Inaugural October Slate.
Ghost House Underground has acquired DARK FLOORS, starring Eurovision Award winning rock group LORDI, which made its international premiere at the European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin. Directed by: Pete Riski and starring Skye Bennett and Noah Huntley, the film is to be distributed by Lionsgate in North America in Fall 2008 as part of Ghost House Underground’s inaugural October Horror slate and to coincide with LORDI’s second North American album debut.
DARK FLOORS is the horrifying tale of a father and daughter trapped inside a hospital fighting for their lives against evil forces from a dark world. The English language film is produced by Markus Selin and Jukka Hellewith support from Finnish Film Foundation, YLE/TV1, Poem and Nordisk Film.
“We at Solar Films are thrilled to work with the best in horror, Lionsgate. They were our first choice from the beginning and we are happy that we were able to negotiate a good deal for both parties,” Selin said.
The deal was brokered by Barry Brooker and Stan Wertlieb of Ghost House Underground and Markus Selin for Solar Films Oy and Tine Klint for Nordisk Film Sales.
Ghost House Underground is the new partnership between Ghost House Pictures and Grindstone Entertainment Group dedicated to acquiring quality horror pictures from up-and-coming filmmakers with original voices from around the world. DARK FLOORS marked the third acquisition for the company following the supernatural thriller THE SUBSTITUTE directed by Martin Barnewitz and ROOM 205 directed by Ole Bornedal at the 2007 American Film Market. Ghost House Pictures also acquired remake rights to both The Substitute and Room 205.
DARK FLOORS opened theatrically in Finland on February 8, 2008 with an amazing 5,000 person world premiere followed by a LORDI live performance at Oulun Energia Areena in North of Finland.
