KARALAHTI tells the story of Jere Karalahti, one of the bad boys of the ice hockey rinks, turning every stone – without forgetting anything or anyone. It is a story that takes a hockey-loving little boy from the rough suburbs of northern Helsinki to the professional leagues of Finland and then to “the show”, the toughest hockey league in the world, NHL – and afterwards to KHL in Russia but also in Germany and Sweden. From the bright lights and care-free lifestyle of California to the intensive care unit and to a near-death experience and eight days in coma – all the way to nowadays showing him as a family man in better shape than ever. Documentary features archive material, interviews and dramatized sequences.
